Labastide d’Armagnac, the “hidden gem” of Les Landes d’Armagnac, hosted an unforgettable evening on Saturday, August 23, as more than 1,300 people gathered in the historic Place Royale to enjoy an open-air screening of April en France. The event, offered by the municipality, has become one of the most attended outdoor cinema screenings in France this year.
The screening was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Rachel Durquety, Vice President of the Landes Departmental Council for Culture, Dominique Degos, Vice President of the Departmental Council and President of the CAUE des Landes, and filmmaker David Boaretto himself. They were warmly welcomed by Alain Gaube, Mayor of Labastide. Also attending were Isabelle Tintané, Mayor of Cazaubon and Vice President, Colette Laurichesse, Secretary of Cittaslow France, Léa Laurichesse, Delegate of the Municipality of Ségonzac, as well as the Mayor of Estigarde and his spouse, alongside many other local officials who mingled with the enthusiastic crowd.
So far, more than 6,000 spectators have discovered April en France through 28 preview screenings across 12 cinemas in the region: seven in Barbotan-Cazaubon, four in Mirande, four in Mont-de-Marsan, three in Lectoure, two each in Gimont, Samatan, and Plaisance, as well as screenings in Marciac, Saint-Sever, Condom, Aire-sur-l’Adour, and Roquefort—culminating in the remarkable outdoor showing at Labastide.
The journey of April en France continues at a steady pace throughout the Southwest. Upcoming screenings are already scheduled in Barbotan-les-Thermes, Mirande, and Gimont, with two special sessions planned in Le Haillan on September 23 and 24.
With its growing audience and its ability to bring communities together under the stars, April en France is proving to be more than a film—it is a cultural celebration of togetherness, heritage, and the magic of cinema.
