This fall, Gaochun welcomed a group of friends from afar—the delegation of teachers and students from Ancel Keys College in Italy! On November 10th, they arrived in Gaochun, Nanjing, and began a two-week internship exchange, immersing themselves in the "slow life" of Gaochun and authentic Chinese culinary culture.
When "Mediterranean Cuisine" Meets "Gaochun Flavors"
At the Liuzhouhui Hotel, 12 teachers and students from Ancel Keys College through on-the-job training, delved into the kitchen to study Chinese cooking skills. From handmade wontons to Gaochun’s special crab dishes, from home-style fried noodles to classic fish-flavored shredded pork... Amidst the clinking of pots and spoons, they completed a "delicious exchange" across mountains and seas.

Internship + Field Trips, a Meaningful Itinerary
In addition to daily kitchen internships, they also:
✅ Visited Gaogang Village,Pinepillow Resort, and Gaochun Ceramics Museum to experience the natural and cultural charm of Gaochun’s slow city.
✅ Went to Gaochun Secondary Vocational School in Jiangsu Province to conduct culinary art exchanges.
✅ Held an internship achievement show, presenting Chinese and Mediterranean cuisine.

Continuing a Fifteen-Year Friendship and Starting a New Chapter of Cooperation
Since Gaochun and Polica, Italy, officially became sister cities in 2010, both sides have continued to conduct in-depth exchanges in the fields of slow city concept promotion and vocational education cooperation. The arrival of this delegation of teachers and students is not only a skills internship but also a continuation and deepening of the friendship between the two places. This exchange also marks the strengthening of our cooperative bond within the framework of the International Slow City Network.
