Cittaslow International is proud to highlight an important upcoming event dedicated to the future of our rural communities. On September 9, 2026, the picturesque village of San Gusmè, located in the Cittaslow municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, will host a vital conference in Piazza Castelli.

Themed "Ancient Roots, New Algorithms: Regenerating rural areas between heritage conservation, digitalization, community services," the event perfectly aligns with the Cittaslow philosophy of blending tradition with sustainable innovation.

Event Highlights: Starting at 3:30 PM, the conference will feature panels led by experts, mayors, and industry leaders, moderated by architect and journalist Paola Pierotti. Key discussion topics will include:

Reversing Depopulation: Exploring new prototypes for social life to revitalize rural towns from the chaos of depopulation.
Green & Digital Transition: Discussing how local utilities can act as engines for ecological and digital transformation.

A Taste of Slow Living: True to the spirit of Cittaslow, the day will conclude with a celebration of local gastronomy and conviviality. At 8:30 PM, attendees are invited to a tasting dinner set in the beautiful squares of the 14th-century walled village. The evening is organized by the San Gusmè community and will feature local wine, products from the "Orto Felice", and live music by the band Brick Road.
