The 2025 Cittaslow Chinese Coordination Conference held in Chongqing Longhe Cittaslow

On December 5th, the 2025 Cittaslow Chinese Coordination Conference was successfully convened in Chongqing Longhe Cittaslow. The Chief Coordinator of the China Cittaslow Coordination Committee, the China Cittaslow Ambassador, representatives from 17 Chinese Cittaslow cities, and representatives from Cittaslow application areas gathered together to discuss the "slow" philosophy and plan for "slow" development.

The meeting was presided over by Kong Zhihui, the Coordinator of  China International Cittaslow Coordination Committee. Gan Xiaohui, the Deputy Secretary of Gaochun District Committee, put forward five development suggestions in his speech:

• Play the role of a link to enhance communication and exchange among Cittaslow cities and promote their joint development;

• Establish brand awareness,shape a Cittaslow brand system,and create an“IP+”integration system;

• Focus on the dissemination of the Cittaslow philosophy,strengthen cultural identification with Cittaslow,and tell good Cittaslow stories;

• Promote the integration of the Cittaslow philosophy,enhance the exploration and protection of culture,and achieve living inheritance;

• Pay attention to the quality of life,explore the Cittaslow residential mode,and empower the Cittaslow lifestyle with technology.

At the meeting,the China International Cittaslow Coordination Committee conveyed the spirit of the International Cittaslow Committee in Netherlands and reported on the work situation of China's Cittaslow cities. Representatives from various regions actively exchanged experiences, further enriched the connotation of Cittaslow,  expanded the influence of the International Cittaslow, and allowed the philosophy of the International Cittaslow to develop and flourish with continuous vitality in China.

Finally, Wu Yaoyu, Director of the Ecological Tourism Research Center at Nanjing Forestry University, was specially invited to conduct Cittaslow training, to deeply interpret the Cittaslow philosophy, deepen Cittaslow practices,and guide the transformation of innovative application results.

Since the birth of China's first International Cittaslow—Yaxi, Cittaslow in China has gone through a 15-year-long development journey. From the absorption of concepts to the construction of systems, from cultural preservation to industrial integration, China's Cittaslow has forged a development path with local characteristics, and has unleashed great potential in the fields of protecting traditional culture, developing people-enriching industries,and improving the quality of life.

This coordination conference is not only a summary of the past, but more importantly, a vision for the future. We look forward to taking this opportunity to jointly build a"circle of friends"for China's Cittaslow, and to propel the Cittaslow cause into a new journey of higher quality and more sustainable development!
