In line with the values of the international Cittaslow movement, which promotes a better quality of life based on sustainability, community, and respect for local identity, the Quermany School of Pals has joined this year’s municipal initiative to raise awareness of the natural, cultural, and human heritage that defines Pals.
The project aims to highlight local products, architectural heritage, and the natural environment, while preserving the town’s most deeply rooted traditions and encouraging a slower, more mindful way of living — one that values education, nature, and collective wellbeing.
Within this framework, the I5 students participated in a field trip organized in collaboration with the Montgrí, Medes Islands, and Baix Ter Natural Park, focusing on the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) — an emblematic species that inspires reflection on biodiversity, environmental protection, and the interdependence between humans and nature.
Through this initiative, Pals reinforces its commitment to Cittaslow principles, fostering environmental awareness and involving the educational community in shaping a more sustainable and harmonious future.
