Opening ceremony of the Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival 2026 in Cittaslow Wando

On April 4th (Sat.), Cittaslow Wando held the opening ceremony of the 16th 'Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival'. The festival is held on the world's first Slowing Road which was certified by the Cittaslow International in 2011, remarking as the main annual event of Cittaslow Wando.

This year, the festival is held under the slogan of 'Healing spring in Cheongsando', having around 200 people on the opening ceremony, including tourists, locals and special guests. Before the opening ceremony, celebration of traditional Korean farm band and Slow Bell ringing went. 

The event was officially announced by the president of Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival Steering Committee, Jeon Yi Yang, followed by the welcoming speech of mayor of Wando, Shin Woo Chul, member of parliament Park Ji Won, chairperson of the Wando county council Kim Yang Hoon, and the coordinator of the Cittaslow Corea Network, Bon Son. The participants enjoyed butterfly releasing event, walking the Slowing Road and trying the fried abalone, which is an important specialty in Wando.

Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival 2026 has been holding from April 1st to April 30th.
