Cittaslow Best Practices Prize "Chiocciola Orange 2026" and Video Contest Award 2026 – The Winners

On June 5, 2026, the Panel for the Cittaslow Best Practices Prize Chiocciola Orange 2026 and the Cittaslow Video Contest Award 2026 met in Orvieto to evaluate the projects and videos submitted by member cities from around the world.
This year, 27 projects were presented by 21 cities — three more than last year — and 8 videos from as many cities. The Commission noted the high quality of all submissions and the strong commitment of member cities to the core goals of the Cittaslow movement.

🏆 Chiocciola Orange 2026 – Grand Prize
Yaxi, Gaochun (CN) — School Cafeteria Ingredient Procurement
A model project designing and producing a system to ensure that cafeterias for 51 schools receive locally sourced and quality-controlled goods, significantly boosting Cittaslow's environmental and social sustainability.
Environmental and Energy Policies
Finike (TR) — Strengthening Finike's Resilience Against Earthquakes and Flood Disasters
A model for preventing environmental disasters through collaboration between universities, public institutions, and civil society, raising awareness in the local community in line with Cittaslow's philosophy.
Infrastructure Policies
Midden-Delfland (NL) — Redesign of Public Space Schipluiden
A community planning initiative improving the quality of the historic centre with space for social activities and new housing for particular categories.
Quality of Urban Life Policies
Yeniboğaziçi (TRNC) — "Making Peace with the Nature"
A project aimed at reconnecting different segments of society with nature through educational activities, seed planting and a festival.
Agricultural, Touristic and Artisan Policies
Nan'ao (CN) — "Sea Urchin Food Festival"
A project promoting a unique marine environment and intangible heritage culture, allowing visitors to experience authentic Cittaslow life.
Policies for Hospitality, Awareness, Training and Culture
Tolfa (IT) — "Archivio Paese"
A revitalisation project of a historic neighbourhood through slow tourism activities, including a visit to a community photography archive serving as a hub for urban memory and identity.
Social Cohesion (ex aequo)
Lefke (TRNC) — Peace Ecosystem Model
The municipality has transformed peace into a sustainable local governance approach, with women's participation, youth engagement and civil society cooperation.
Bra (IT) — Scuola di Pace "Toni Lucci"
Since 1992, a school dedicated to peace has functioned as an arena for promoting awareness and guiding younger generations toward dialogue and friendship among peoples.

🏆 Winner - Mehmetçik-Büyükkonuk (TRNC) — "Journey of Felt"
Through the traditional craft of wool felt hat-making, the video beautifully embodies the spirit of tradition and innovation that defines Cittaslow.
