"Aldeia Matambo": The Village of Dignity – Support the Docufilm of our Cittaslow in Progress

In the heart of Mozambique, in the province of Tete, a unique project of cooperation is growing day by day. Matambo is a community once deeply scarred by poverty and drought, which is now transforming into a living model of sustainable, human-centered development.
We at Cittaslow International, in proud partnership with Dignity No Profit People ETS and other international organizations, have been walking alongside this community to help restore hope. Because of this shared commitment to education, sustainable work, and community resilience, we officially welcomed Matambo into our network as a Cittaslow in Progress in 2022.
Cultivating a Sustainable Future: What We Have Built Together
The Cittaslow philosophy is all about improving the quality of life for everyone, step by step. Here is how that vision is coming to life in Matambo:
Education & Safe Spaces: The "Aprendemos Juntos" school, built in 2020, now welcomes 234 children (ages 3 to 8), providing them with an education, daily meals, and a safe environment to play and grow.
Access to Clean Water: We have dug three vital wells, securing a life-saving resource for the school and the families of the village.
Local Economy & Autonomy: A sustainable community goat farming project has been launched, providing nourishment and an independent source of income for the locals.
Food Security & Reforestation: Community orchards, vegetable gardens, and a tree nursery have been planted to ensure food security and help heal the local environment.
The "Aldeia Matambo" Docufilm Project
Today, Matambo is a powerful symbol of rebirth. To share this incredible journey with the world, the story is becoming a documentary.
"Aldeia Matambo" is an upcoming docufilm that captures the true story of this community's commitment and hope. Produced by Tripodphoto—an Italian collective of expert documentary filmmakers specialized in social and NGO reportage—the film features direct testimonies and powerful imagery showing how the people of Matambo are building their future with their own hands.
Once completed, the docufilm will be screened in schools, festivals, and communities across the globe, serving as a tool to inspire new ideas and paths of cooperation.
