Mirande - a 4000-inhabitant town – is situated in the south-west of France, in Gascony – the country of d’Artagnan. This medieval « bastide » has been cultivating its hospitality and warm welcome for over 40 years by being a twin town with four different cities situated in Germany, Belgium, Italy and Spain.
Our 13th century fortified town has become little by little an ideal place to live. In the heart of green hills and valleys, Mirande is attached to quality of living, authenticity, conviviality, good food and sustainable development. Here we can say what good living means!
Take your time and visit…
Rich with its heritage Mirande invites you to discover: the 15th century church with a unique porch over the street, the main square with its arcades, medieval streets, The Fine and Decorative Art Museum with Italian, Flemish and French paintings of 15th to 19th century as well as decorated earthenware…
Take your time and relax…
Thanks to a mild climate the outdoor activities are easy to practise: kayaks, swimming (“Ludina” outdoor swimming pool), intensive walking or just a promenade around the lake…
Take your time and entertain yourself…
During every season you can find an entertainment for any age: the international Country Music Festival with its 160,000 visitors every year, the « tourteau » feast for Easter, the folk-feast in August, concerts, plays, exhibitions… the calendar is completed by numerous events organised by local clubs and associations.
Take your time and taste happiness…
Mirande pays a lot of attention to maintain local traditions and diversity of products. A picturesque market is held every Monday all year long – a place of exchange between local producers and consumers. “Pearly” beef of Gascony (boeuf nacre de Gascogne), black pork, foie gras, wine and Armagnac are products which, apart their quality value, underline local savoir-faire transferred through generations.
