Tax advice for freelancers in Santa Barbara
Hi all! I’ve been freelancing as a graphic designer in Santa Barbara for a couple of years, and taxes are always a headache. I’m not sure I’m tracking my deductions right, like home office expenses or software subscriptions. Last year, I paid way more than I expected because I missed some things. I’d love to find a local accountant who’s used to working with freelancers and can help me sort this out affordably. Anyone have tips or know someone good to contact?

Freelancing taxes are no joke! I’ve been doing freelance writing here and had the same issue with deductions. I found a site that lists Accountants in Santa Barbara, CA, and it was a great starting point. It has a bunch of CPAs who know the ins and outs of freelance taxes, like deductions for home offices or equipment. I called one near State Street, and they helped me organize my expenses and even found some credits I didn’t know about. The site also has cost info, so you can find someone who fits your budget. Take a look and maybe reach out to a few!
