9:30 AM – Meeting in Amelia (at Porta Romana, the historic entrance to the village)
Meet with a local guide, a passionate resident and expert on Amerina history. Set off on a guided walking tour of the historic center (approx. 2 hours), exploring the pre-Roman polygonal walls, medieval alleys, and major city landmarks. The itinerary includes the Cathedral of Santa Fermina, the Town Crier's Loggia with its ancient clock, and the underground Roman cisterns (optional entry), showcasing Amelia’s hydraulic engineering. Along the way, there’s a sweet stop in a small shop to taste Fichi Girotti, traditional local treats made from dried figs stuffed with chocolate and nuts, handmade following artisanal methods. This morning experience offers a calm immersion into the town’s identity, true to the “slow” spirit.
1:00 PM – Lunch at La Locanda del Conte Nitto

The restaurant embraces the “km 0” philosophy, using seasonal products from the Amerino area: DOP extra virgin olive oil from the local hills, organic vegetables, homemade pasta, and Umbrian meats. Traditional dishes such as umbrichelli with black truffle, game stew, or pinsa romana with local flours are accompanied by Umbrian wines like Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese. 3:30 PM – Visit to Frantoio Suatoni (Olive Mill)

A guide from the mill will take the group on a walk among centuries-old olive trees, explaining organic and sustainable farming techniques. Local producers share their passion for the land while guests enjoy fresh bread, new oil, olives, and other delights like honey and organic jams. 6:00 PM – Arrival and Check-in at the Agriturismo
Arrive at the selected agriturismo and check in. Enjoy free time to relax in the peaceful countryside. Guests can stroll around the farm, admire the rolling hills and colors of nature, or simply unwind under a tree or by the pool (if available), in true Cittaslow style. (Depending on the calendar, you may also visit local craft markets or festivals in Amelia during the late afternoon—such as weekend farmers' markets or artisan exhibitions.)
8:00 PM – Dinner at the Agriturismo
Enjoy a set menu dinner in the warm dining room. The host family serves homemade Umbrian dishes prepared with organic ingredients from their farm. Seasonal vegetables, cheeses, and meats (such as prized Chianina beef) are cooked according to tradition: garden legume soup, mixed grill with home-raised meats, seasonal vegetable sides, and new olive oil from the mill. Local wine is served alongside. The dinner takes place in a convivial atmosphere and unhurried rhythm: the hosts share stories about the land and rural customs.
