Yeongwol County a tiny outback town in mountains in Gangwon-do Province. The area has been one of the largest mining towns that produced coal and lime during back in 1960s~1970s and leaded Corean economic development. Some communities resorted abandoned mining town from economic slump; to construct new eco trails along the mines and woodland paths which are attract more tourist and local residents. With all 40,000 residents of small town, Yeongwol preserved outstanding cultural heritages, especially 24 themed museums that represent various spectrums in nature and culture.

Nango KimSatgat Culture Hall

Kim Sat Gat, one of best poets in Corea named himself the county and enjoyed its natural beauty during the 19th century, spending most of his life traveling and wandering across Corea. His culture hall is a literary shrine for Kim Byeongyeon(1807-1863) with books and sculptures of KimSatgat and research data from Park Young-guk a scholar who studied KimSatgat for a lifetime. He is better known as KimSatgat, the wandering poet, because he wore a bamboo hat(Satgat).
