In Damyang, there remain many traditional Corean houses and cultural assets including the traditional local farming culture. Visitors can enjoy a walk around the old stonewalls that surround the traditional houses. As Damyang provides its citizens with many opportunities to experience Corean traditional culture, it meets the condition for cittaslow certification.

Damyang has many Corean traditional foods, including Changpyeong Gukbap(soup with rice), noodles, Tteokgalbi(grilled minced rib) and Hangwa(Corean traditional snack). These foods contribute to the regional economy thereby further meeting the conditions for cittaslow certification.
