Poland - Roam around Warmia fallowing the footsteps of Nicholas Copernicus
On the map are marked and described not one, but several routes connecting the places where Copernicus lived and worked. The first is the Copernicus Road Trail that extends beyond the boundaries of the historical Warmia – to Olsztynek and Elbląg. Its main stages are: Olsztyn, Dobre Miasto, Lidzbark Warmiński, Orneta, Pieniężno,Braniewo and Frombork. To a large extent it coincides with the walking trail.
The entire road route and most of the walking one can be overcome by bike. Lidzbark Warmiński is also connected with Elbląg with a section of the Eastern Bike Trail "Green Velo", to which we get from Olsztyn by an unmarked route. The places associated with Copernicus can also be reached by a canoe. Through Olsztyn,Dobre Miasto and Lidzbark Warmiński flows the main river of the region – Łyna.
In addition to the route, on the map are marked places where Copernicus, as administrator of the Warmia Chapter, located settlers, as well as various tourist attractions, in particular related to its figure. In the descriptive part we find information about the life and work of the astronomer in different places of the region.
The map will be sold at tourist information points. The PDF format is available on our website in the section: Poznawaj i odkrywaj > Region > Publikacje o regionie. Here you can also find several other current maps and guides issued by the Tourist Department of the Marshal’s Office Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.
