Turkey - Sustainable Cities Conference to focus on ‘greenifying' at the local level

Turkish National Network

The Sustainable Cities Conference will consist of four sessions during which participants will discuss how to draft action plans as well as learn how to fund their green projects.

"İzmir's Seferihisar Municipality, Turkey's first slow city, will also share its best sustainable practices.

There are currently five slow cities in Turkey – Akyaka in Muğla province; Gökçeada in Çanakkale; Seferihisar in İzmir; Taraklı in Sakarya; and Yenipazar in Aydın province.

Cities also need to be one of the main actors in the fight against climate change, Okumuş argued, because of the amount of waste and energy they generate."
