Greve in Chianti (FI) - Slow Art Day 2012
Slow Art Day, the international grassroots movement, announced that LA MACINA DI SAN CRESCIhas been added to the fourth annual Slow Art Day on April 28, 2012. La Macina di San Cresci joins the distinguished and growing group of more than 70 events planned around the world.
Since its founding in 2009, Slow Art Day has grown from a single event held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City to more than 90 events on every continent in 2011. "Slow Art Day has grown so quickly because it is a powerful and simple way to experience art," says founder Phil Terry, CEO of the experience design firm Creative Good.
Slow Art Day was created as a grassroots movement to empower museum visitors to change their museum experience. Unlike the standard 8-second view, Slow Art Day participants are asked to spend an hour or more looking at just five pieces of art.
The event at La Macina di San Cresci in Greve in Chianti will begin at 9PM on April 28, 2012 and feature "Unicorn, Pegasus and Horses" works by Alfredo Futuro. The work "Unicorn" is a large installation at the edge of the lake a few steps from the art gallery. Participants will be guided outside and then in the gallery they will have the opportunity to see the other works. Following the viewing, participants will meet over refreshments to discuss the art and their experience.
