A successful Cittaslow Market in Mirande on May 13th.

French National Network

A Cittaslow Market hosted in the morning under Mirande market hall nearly 30 producers and artisans promoting local quality productions. The twin cities of Korntal-Münchingen (Germany), Tubize (Belgium) and the Alsatian friend town of Fessenheim also presented their specialities. Poultry, charcuterie, Mirandaise cow meat, “croustades", snails, cheese, honey, strawberries, vegetables, but also craftsmanship offered visitors a varied range of quality local products.

A variety of activities have been held at the market: 

- folk dances with local group Lous Mirandès; 

- culinary workshop presented by chef Younn Lepoutre from the restaurant “Tables du Gers"  Betty Beef of Mascaras followed by a tasting of tartare gascon;  

- Cittaslow awards to personalities who worked to promote the values of the label presented by Mr Pierre Beaudran, president of the French Cittaslow Network ;

- a convivial aperitif offered to all in partnership with producers.

Finally, everyone had the opportunity to have lunch on site, the producers having prepared tasting plates: snails, Mirandaise cow burger with the support of the Agricultural High School of Mirande, cheese, country wines and craft beer, croustade, etc.

Outside the hall, a stand dedicated to soft mobility made it possible to try electric bicycles thanks to the presence of a partner of the Tourist Office which will offer electric bike rental to residents and tourists this summer.

A day that has combined quality, exchanges, gastronomy and conviviality.
