Cittaslow mayors excited by visit Midden-Delfland

Dutch National Network

The biannual meeting of the Dutch Cittaslow municipalities this time was organized in Midden-Delfland. President of the Dutch Cittaslow network Arnoud Rodenburg afterwards invited his colleagues to take a look at the shop of Farm-I-See in Schipluiden. The guests were positively surprised.

Collaboration
In the shop in Schipluiden the mayors were briefed on local and artisanal products offered here directly from the grower to the consumer. To minimize the transport kilometers and to support local entrepreneurs. Dairy comes from the dairy farm or Delflandshof, small-scale dairy cooperative in Midden-Delfland. There was also told that many vegetables are grown in the greenhouses of the local Foundation BoereGoed where people some difficulty at the labor market work on social integration and healthy local products.

Symbol
The mayors of Alphen-Chaam, Vaals, Heerde, Vlagtwedde, Bellingwedde, Echt-Susteren and Eijsden-Margraten were impressed with the concept. Kompier mayor of Vlagtwedde (southeast Groningen) immediately saw opportunities for its own municipality. Other colleagues thought it would be good to share ideas and collaborate in this. "Such a shop selling local produce is a beautiful symbol that people open their hearts to their region."
